Today crossed over to Hungary at 10.10 am after a 12 km ride from Cenad. Without any problem at the custom. The first impression was a nice cycling lane from the border to Kiszombor, then it joined to a busy road 43 all the way to a big city in Szeged ( pronounce at Say Keat ), the nice cycling lane turned into a crack, uneven and grass lane , is a big burden to the recumbent with a heavy load. I decided to take a big risk going on the road with hardly any shoulder but cycled with a very fast speed of 25 kmh . Could not find any money changer and no knowledge of the exchange rate of Hungary currency to Euro or Rm .Bought some stuffs and a map at a petrol station with my Visa card .I was shocked the receipt shown almost 4000 Ft. Counter checked found the map cost 750 Ft but was manually keyed in by the lady 1800 Ft,whether it was by accident or intention, only she and the God knows, but somehow it already tarnished the image of this country in the eye of a very far tourist. Rode into Szeged , a very beautiful European city with lots of great buildings, parks, cycling lanes by the river bank of Tisza. Ride continues following road sign to Budapest on Rd 5,some 180 km to go.Nothing much on scenery, actually my concentration was on the road trying hard to balance at the edge to avoid falling to the drop off. There was one confusion at my own mistake at km 148. After a rest stop at a petrol station at the opposite side of the road I'm heading ( northwest ) and my bike was parked with the pedals facing ( southeast ) . I found myself cycling backward for 2 km . I was wondering how come the km sign kept increasing from 149..then 150 , it should be reducing! So 4km extras on my cyclometer. Things like that do happen sometimes especially on a journey of this magnitude , don't blame yourself too much , ok? By 6 pm after Kistelek , found one bad campsite full of thorns, not much of a choice anyway , after all Meng had camped much worse than this. Will try to reach Budapest tomorrow 140 km , if I can start early.

Hi Meng

I think the road sign says “Beware of the 3 mode of transportation listed”
I said beware cos of the yellow box on top.
Roasted pork, huh. How did that came along?
