While trying to recover fr yesterday 6 km short of 100, We rode into Maykop town in dark at 9 pm and landed in a rubbish dumpsite . It was indeed horrible setting up tents in the dark, with lots of rubbish thrown from the road which is about 2 meter higher than the ground where we camped. We just rolled our bikes down with all the panniers still attached to our bikes. Pushing aside the bushes, small trees branches ,we couldn't care much whether there is any snakes or animals hiding under. With amazing speed our tents were up and had ourself cleaned . Whenever everthing was settled and done and enjoying a cup of hot coffee " Afterall, the campsite is not bad " commented Heather who is normally a bit selective where camp spot is concerned. We saw a somewhat nightclub with the word "HOTEL" in blue neon light. We knew it will be expensive and both of us did not have much rubbles left. By camping under such "trying" condition , I am sure it will be a real experience for my riding partner.

I found the story about the corrupt Russian police man trying to take money off you but ended up giving you money so funny! I think if I were in that situation I would have given him the money... Had he left with your documents then you would have been in big trouble with no documents in Russia...
