Day 39 May 18 Fri - ChijinZhen to BeidaQiao 4 km outside Anxi

You have a problem if you don't understand Mandarin on expressway signboard
This two makes a little sense....

Trees planting project to overcome sandstorm
Barbed wire crossing to other side of expressway for food

Wind turbines not only seen in Europe but China as well to generate electric power
Constructing an expansion relief gap on all bridges along the expressway
Common dusty faces of workers , not often you have water to wash your face here
That bowl of beef noodles went in my stomach in less than a minute
G312 dead end and a detour to the expressway

Much neglected stretch of G312 road
Dust were flying all over when trucks zoom pass without consideration for us
New Expressway not officially open but toll collection started.Anxi is our destination
Bridges are common in hilly parts of Gangsu but often there is little water or just rocks & sands underneath
Workers are busy putting the final touches on the expressway

"Flying with the wind" is best described for today's ride. The "wind" I meant here is of course tailwind. As you can see,we hit another record again 183km. Wow ..absolutely SUPERB!!! Its hard to believe,I know especially with our heavy panniers, but it's TRUE!! Everythings seems to be on our favour. First there is a strong tailwind to help us all the way.Second, we had to divert to an Expressway when G312 came to a dead end,the police cars ignored us just like we ignored them, this expressway has not officially open yet and workers still busy fixing the railgaurds and making the expansion gap on bridges. One disadvantage when you ride on highway, you tend to miss passing thru' small towns, villages, interact with the locals and most important we really miss our usual stopover foods like: coke,ice-cream,bananas..At 4 pm 133km down and another 50km to go,my stomach sent a strong signal when i spotted a shop opposite the highway and we had to wheel our bikes thru' a small opening between the barbed wire fencing. The shop owner was staring at me for finishing a bowl of beef noodles in less than a minute! We also make use of the free hot water to drink our favorite coffee. After having done so far, properly a good reason not to turn in to Anxi which is 4 km from the junction at BeidaQiao.
