Day 44 May 23 Wed - Hami worth to stay for another day

We are seeing more of this bread or "roti nan" in XinJiang now . 1 rmb /pc
Uygur man preparing the lamb "satay". Our favourite ! 0.5 rmb per stick
Help yourself please ! The steamboat is 8 rmb
0.30 rmb per stick! and we spent a total of 28 rmb

Kindergarden class on the same building we stay in Hami
Beef ball and slice soup or in mandarin " YuanZiTang "
Hami roundabout landmark day time
And night time with the fountain and lighting on
Donkey cart selling watermelon

Today's spending: 114 rmb
Total spending to date: 2956.50 rmb

We spent 5 hour in one of the underground internet that only charge 1.0 rmb / hr , so far the cheapest in China.Later I found out that this price is only on offer for certain period.Cycling makes our legs tired but 5 hour internet is in the mind. So straight back to the room to sleep and rest. The earlier thought of going to hair salon can wait!

Hi Meng,

Yeah, take a rest in Hami, b4 continue the rest of journey. Still hv 12,000KM to go..

Wow, u found the “roti nan”, how the taste? Nicer then Malaysia or? And does u manage to get “Tea Tarik”? haha, Hami seens like the cheaper town in china oo, especially the foods, remind me about the “melaka satay lok lok”.

Anywhere, wish you good luck in the journey.

Best Regard

Hi...im back....

Your blog seems to be famous now la. Meng, forty days covering 3000km is an achievement, my fren. You hv done very well so far, not many can do that, and we all know very well.

In China, especially remote areas, good road conditions are i presumed quite rare and sometimes not to your expectation. So its worth the celebration to you and yr cycling partner. Perhaps you can invite yr partner to Malaysia later. We will give you two a great meal & " Yam Seng "

Meanwhile, ride safely and cheers...

Hi Meng,

I finally caught up to your latest entry (I was only up to Day 34 when I posted the comment on your previous entry).

I think you misunderstood my previous comment, all the uni work is no fun at all - it is very stressful!!!

And to answer your question: no, I did not do any more caving after Mulu - I returned to Perth 2 or 3 days later so I didn't ahve much time to do anything.

Chi Fai

p.s. Congratulations also on completing about 20% of your trip already. Didn't seem that long ago since you started riding from Beijing...

amos,
Roti nan taste good with hot drinks esp dip inside hot tea-tarik,but they don't serve with anything like "dial" in Malaysia . I normally dip in coffee. steamboat here is really cheap and taste good.
