Today I celebrated my 200th day in my longest adventure ride,my original targeted schedule in Paris.Nevertheless I am still proud of myself to make it this far and Paris is just only 600 over km to go,if the weather continues to stay fine,I should be there in 10 - 12 days time. My sister in London already booked the MAS air ticket from London to Malaysia on the 30th Nov. I 'd like to thank her for the ticket and also given me a date to aim . Today's ride mostly following the bike lanes which I felt uncomfortable with, not only it slow down my speed, often it leads you to some rough gravels and ended up somewhere you were not sure and time wasting to check the map again and again. I was horned many times and told to go to the bike lanes. The German drivers don't like to see cyclists on even the secondary roads if there is a bike lane. From Blaubeuren, to the scenic towns of Schelklingen,Munsingen,Gomadingen and finally camped in this beautiful hill top in Honau overlooking to a higher Castle from my tent

Bike lanes in Germany:
You have local bike lanes, that you don't want to take. They are short.
You have 'Landstrassen' country streets, that you want to take.
You have 'Bundesstrassen' and 'Autobahnen' that don't allow bicycles and are way too dangerous!
By law you are required to use bike paths, when there is one (in theory you could get finded for not using them) In practise it is a different story.
Get a car map of the region (in Germany) and you will have less problems!

I see you are going strong! Good wishes to you!

Hey Meng!

Bernd is right, get a car map. You want to take the "Landstrassen" they are the country roads, they also go directly usually, as they were the old roads used before fast cars. The "Bundesstrassen" are the fast highways which usually have lots of cars trying to avoid the traffic jams on the "Autobahns". The "Autobahns" are like the "Freeways" in America, and bikes are not allowed there.

I'm so happy to see you moving along fast and furious, and make sure to eat some vegetables too! Hehehe :). Like an old mom....

Hi Meng,
Poweerrr a bit more & you will be in Strasbourg, FRANCE. So I guess you don't need a map of Germany anymore. Congrats on another milestone of achievement. Circa <400 straight line km to go and you'll be in Paris. A little bit of highland the next 2 days and when you decend maybe you can see the top of Eiffel Tower already. :P
Smooth sailing for the rest of your journey and take care.

Meng

I have been following you and Heather since day 1 and now continue to follow you as you cycle alone. What a wonderful journey you have taken us all on. Thankyou for the journey. Most of all, thankyou for the time you have set aside to type up your journey whilst you are riding; it is an enormous task and I wonder if you feel the pressure of the eyes of your followers as they wait for your next update.

Good luck with your final week or so. May the climate be kind to you and that you feel the exhileration of supreme success as you cycle into Paris and park under the "iron lady" for the best photo op of the entire trip since Day 1.

Well done you!

Kayleen
